Responsible gambling

GoalCast is for adults aged 18 and over. Football predictions are meant to make watching the game more interesting. They are not a way to earn a living, clear a debt or solve a money problem.
What the numbers really mean
- A probability is not a promise. A pick rated 85% still loses about one time in seven.
- Accumulators lose far more often than their individual legs. Five 85% picks together land less than half the time.
- Bookmakers build a margin into every price. Over time, most people who bet lose money. Our own model does not beat the bookmakers, and the model page says so.
Keeping control
- Set a budget before you start and treat it as the cost of entertainment. When it is gone, stop.
- Never chase losses. Betting more to win back what you lost is how small losses become large ones.
- Do not bet with money you need for rent, food, bills or debts, and never with borrowed money.
- Set a time limit as well as a money limit.
- Do not bet when upset, stressed or after drinking.
- Take breaks. Most licensed bookmakers let you set deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion. Use them.
Signs that betting is becoming a problem
- spending more money or time on betting than you intended
- hiding your betting from family or friends, or lying about it
- borrowing, selling things or missing bills to fund it
- feeling anxious, irritable or low when you try to stop
- betting to escape worries or to recover earlier losses
If any of these sound familiar, talking to someone helps, and the sooner the better.
